- Elmwood Experience Days
This term has been an opportunity for the Elmwood Community to come together and thank Specialist Schools from across the West Midlands and Secondary Schools from across the Matrix Trust for hosting “Learning From” visits during 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 for our Teachers and Teaching Assistants. These experiences have enabled staff to support our whole school development of the school. Therefore, during w/c 22nd January 2024 we welcomed 16 teachers across all subjects and key stages and w/c 19th February 2024 we welcomed 14 teaching assistants, again across a variety of key stages. Below are the comments received following these experience days. Teachers:

Please click on the link below if you would like to donate or alternatively there is a sponsor form in the school office. https://socialsync.app/fundraiser/cr-1495dywo7rl50?currentTab=fundraising Many thanks in advance and good luck Leon.
- Visit by Wendy Morton MP
On Friday 19th January 2024, Wendy Morton, MP, had a taste of the outdoor education curriculum that pupils enjoy at Elmwood School. The visit was organised thanks to Dan Whittaker, Head of Outdoor Learning and his involvement in the All Party Parliamentary Group for Outdoor Learning and to discuss the nationally significant and unique programme of Outdoor Learning we deliver at Elmwood, with its research backed justification, the Theory of Change, as well as discuss the Parliamentary campaign to ensure every pupil in the UK receives a guaranteed and substantial outdoor learning experience as part of the legal entitlement within their education. Wendy was given the opportunity to witness the breadth and depth of the Out and About curriculum as well as tour the outdoor store, campfire and adventure barn. Whilst at the barn, Wendy had the opportunity to try her hand at riflery and archery and later joined a group that Mr Middleton was leading in axe throwing. As you can see from the feedback, a great time was had. A targeted visit, indeed.
