- Rose Burley, Governor, Retires After 15 Years of Service
We are sad to say that Rose Burley, Governor, has stepped down from her role as a co-opted governor at the end of September. Rose has been involved with Elmwood School from back 2007 when she was part of the temporary governing body ahead of the school opening in January 2008. Over the past 15 years Rose has been a great asset to the team and supported the school through numerous Ofsted inspections and attended functions/events whenever possible. During her time as a Governor, in conjunction with being an elected Walsall Counsellor and also serving as Deputy Mayor followed by Mayor of Walsall, Rose has held the post of both Chair and Deputy Chair of Governors. Rose has always been a very busy lady but has always tried to support the school whenever possible. The door will always be open for Rose to pop by and visit and we send her our very best wishes for the future. Thank you Rose, you will be sadly missed.

- Leading Parent Partnership Reaccreditation Award
We are pleased to announce that the school has been reaccredited with the Leading Parent Partnership Award. This national award recognises the work that the school does working alongside parents and carers. It acknowledges evidence of our sustained approach to parental engagement and ensures parents and carers have a positive experience of the school. Thank you to everyone who contributed, including pupils, and also to to parent Rachel Williamson (mom to Craig, former pupil) and Tracy MacDonald (nee Brandwood), joint Chair of Governors and Sarah Thornton, Parent Governor, for their input and support. A big thank you to Jo Hughes, part time family support worker/teaching assistant for her time and hard work in achieving this award. A copy of the report is available below and well worth a read:
- Exciting Opportunity Thanks to Tesco
We are excited to announce that we have been successful in our application to the Tesco Stronger Campaign. This will be launched in October and run until mid January 2024. To vote, you will need to make a purchase within the Tesco Walsall Extra store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it’s not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token. The project with the highest number of votes across our region will receive £1,500 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), the second placed project £1,000 (or the amount that was requested up to this value), and the third placed project £500. Any support towards this scheme during the voting period would be much appreciated and will help to improve the outdoor area for our pupils. Many thanks in advance and please spread the word to friends and family because as the saying goes, every little helps.
